I’ve been agonizing for weeks about how to write this post. Finally, I decided to just come out with the crux of the matter in the title: we are leaving Birmingham. This move is bittersweet for us. We love Birmingham and the community of friends, including many close foodie friends, we’ve made here. The reason for the move is an exciting job opportunity for me, and the decision was a difficult one. But it’s all set-we leave July 31. And interestingly, aside from Scoops (which we recently wrote about, leading to a 5 pound weight gain during our efforts to try every flavor), and an occasional special gelato at one of our city’s more upscale restaurants (mmmmmm Bettola), this town doesn’t have a lot of gelato. Pizitz Food Hall combinations we love #2: chocolate waffle from waffle works with ice cream from Lichita’s

Last weekend, we met up with Marqus and Alyssa from Travis Burger post fame at Pizitz. They’ve since moved away from Birmingham, and hadn’t been to the Food Hall yet. It’s been a few months since we’ve had a chance to experience it with newbies who bring fresh eyes to the endeavor, and we had a blast. We started with ahi Poke at Ono, had a 3 meat 3 cheese plate at Busy Corner, then some pork mofongo at Tropicaleo, only to then have the combination platter at Ghion.
