Blue Pacific @ Hoover Food Mart is back, baby!

Foodies,

A few months ago, we told you about some of the best Thai food in Bham being served out of a gas station in Hoover.  Blue Pacific, as it’s called, became very popular very quickly.  Think, 1000 shares on Facebook line out the door popular.

And then suddenly, it was closed.  This created some chaos in the Bham foodie scene.  Where did it go?  Would it come back?

Well foodies, I’m here to tell you that it’s back.  It’s still owned by the same family.  They seem to have expanded the seating area quite a bit (though the mini mart is still functional-so I can still eat my meal with a diet A&W root beer).

And, because I am here to serve you, my loyal blog fans, Mr Foodie and I have returned not once, not twice, but three times to verify the quality.  The quality remaims the same-excellent, authentic Thai food at cheap prices served out of a gas station.  What more could you ask for?

A few favorite photos from our recent trips:

The new menu.  Pretty similar to before with a few new items.  Note that they are open on Mondays – that solves the problem of where to eat every Monday night when everything else except for Bamboo on 2nd is closed.

The pad thai.  Previously, we noted that the pad Thai was not sweet like other pad thais in town, and this was a very good thing.  We are pleased to report that the pad thai is similarly savory, and now has a very attractive egg lattice on top.  Very photogenic, A+ taste.

Glamour shot:

Next up, chicken coconut soup.  Spicy and lime-y and creamy at the same time.  Still my favorite in town.  Huge portion.

Green curry.  Perfectly cooked chicken in a light, spicy curry.  Incredible.

Close-up:

In sum: they’re back and it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere.  Thank goodness, they scared us for a minute there.

I used to live in Thailand and I had been disappointed by the Thai offerings around Birmingham. When Blue Pacific opened I had to give it a try. It is as close to Thailand as I can get. I have been probably 7 or 8 times. A of things I judge a Thai restaurant on is 1) They have to be able to speak Thai to me and 2) will they modify an order to your liking. They passed both with flying colors and were just as excited as I was about the meal. They haven’t muted the flavors to appeal to more people and though the wait can take a little time the food is well worth it. Kati Thai in Gadsden is excellent as well as yall know.

Glad you are writing about this place…when I checked them out last week, I wondered to myself if you have ever heard of them. How silly of me….of course you have! Happy eating!

I started going here in summer and met people from all over the state (Anniston, Huntsville) that came to try it out due to their friends here telling them about it. Love it
