Pizitz Day 2: Eli's Jerusalem Grill opens, Busy Corner Cheese makes amazing cheese and charcuterie plates

Blog fans, I apologize for the delay. Mr. Foodie and I just returned home from Pizitz after being there since 5pm. We ate, we sat, we talked, we saw tons of people we knew, we ate and talked more – it’s really becoming quite the gathering place.

First of all, we were not there for lunch, but here’s a pic taken by Bayer Properties’ Tom Walker. Surreal. The lines were apparently out the door.

When we arrived for dinner, the lines were quickly accumulating, but the food all came out in a relatively timely manner.  A healthy dose of patience is still needed, but hey, this isn’t McDonald’s.

Today, another member of The Pizitz Food Hall family opened: Eli’s Jerusalem Grill. Eli’s occupies a special place in our hearts. We first blogged about their 280 location in November 2014, shortly after they opened. Their incredible schwarma, falafel, kabobs, and homemade pita won us over immediately.

In November 2015, we made a special trip to Eli’s to talk to him about participating in The Pizitz Food Hall. During that trip, we found out that they had started serving my childhood favorite – matzoh ball soup. In fact they are the only folks in town who make it. So we blogged about that.

Today, just a little over a year later, they opened their Pizitz food stall. The quality was exactly the same as their 280 location:

Outstanding chicken schwarma, cut right from the spit:

Falafel. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with delicious tahini:

And of course a salad combo with hummus, beets, quinoa, carrots, and cabbage. All fresh, brightly flavored, and a perfect complement to the heartier dishes.

Next up, the amazing cheese and charcuterie plates from Busy Corner Cheese. We got the 7 cheese and 7 meat plates.  We don’t know much about meat and don’t know much about cheese other than we know good meat and cheese when we see it.  Luckily, we didn’t need to know much – Brian, Busy Corner’s owner and cheesemonger, came over to the table and explained each offering in detail. All I can say is that there was a lot of oohing and aaahing coming from everyone at our table throughout the meal.
